WHAT NEXT is a northern beaches band that plays classic rock hits from the '60s, '70s, and '80s, sticking closely to the originals in presentation. With two female and one male lead singer and two male harmony singers, the band adds rich vocal textures to songs you know and love. Artists covered include Toto, Little River Band, Steely Dan, Tears for Fears, Eagles, Don Henley, Cold Chisel, Creedance, and Wings.

Catherine Hunter
Catherine Hunter is one of the most captivating voices and performers in Australian jazz today. Musicians and audiences alike have long been beguiled by her musicality and strong vocal styling, that sees her switch effortlessly between romantic ballads, bossa novas and swinging jazz standards.
Catherine is a recording artist with ABC Records and her CD, dream maker, was released nationally in September 2006 under the ABC Jazz label. The album brings together some of Catherine's favourite musicians in a sizzling quintet, including a stunning duet with Australia 's legendary jazz pianist Bobby Gebert.
Catherine appears as a featured guest artist with Australia 's biggest jazz names, including internationally acclaimed James Morrison, the legendary Don Burrows and John Morrison . Catherine's own quintet is in hot demand for high profile corporate work, functions and events, along with Australia 's premier jazz festivals and venues.
Catherine's diverse career has seen her headline gigs around the country, including Norfolk Island's Jazz on the Rock , the Hunter Valley's Jazz in the Vines, Manly Jazz Festival and Darwin's Sunset Jazz . She has toured Australia and Asia , having recently played an exclusive engagement at the prestigious Hong Kong Island Shangri-La Hotel to great acclaim. Catherine performs regularly on television and her voice can be heard on many advertising jingles.

Jazz Night: Patrick Muldrew
Patrick Muldrew
Patrick Muldrew fell in love with music at a very early age. It was no surprise, coming from a musical family; his grandmother was the first woman to sing Jazz repertoire at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Patrick would follow in her footsteps to study at this prestigious institution, graduating in 2006.
Performing throughout Australia as both a singer and trombonist, Patrick has worked in a variety of musical settings, ranging from Classical Orchestras & Chamber ensembles right through to Jazz, Funk, R&B & Pop groups. Patrick was a founding member of the popular Sydney Swing band, The Velvet Set, and has performed extensively with the ever-successful group Wonderbrass - including their involvement in Melbourne as the backing band for the superstar chef, Jamie Oliver.
Now focusing on his passion for Jazz, Patrick wants to share his unique sound and love of music with others. With standards taken from The Great American Songbook and elsewhere, he draws on influences ranging from Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr to Kurt Elling and Harry Connick Jr

Chris is an exciting Blues and Roots Guitarist/Vocalist from Sydney Australia.
He won the solo/duo section of the Sydney International Blues Challenge and represented NSW at the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee.
He plays an array of exotic guitars, perhaps the most striking is a double-neck guitar of his own design, incorporating an open-tuned slide guitar and a conventional six-string electric guitar.

JO FABRO
JO FABRO is a powerful and dynamic singer who received training as a jazz vocalist through the Bachelor of Music degree at the University of NSW. Jo has studied with many prominent musicians and vocalists such as: Joy Yates, Pat Powell, Dave MacRae, and John Harkins, as well as attending workshops by artists such as Kurt Elling, Darren Percival, Barbara Morrison, Leigh McCrae, Nikki Crayson, and Tina Harrod. In 2005 she was accepted as a top 10 Finalist in the prestigious Wangaratta Jazz Festival Vocalist of the Year Competition. Jo is a regular feature in the Sydney and Australian jazz and soul scene, and has also performed in Tokyo Japan, at the Tauranga Jazz Festival in New Zealand, as well as at many of Australia’s top live music venues.

An excellent and well-trained musician and a charming entertainer, George Washingmachine doesn’t go unnoticed. Besides singing and playing his violin with enviable mastery, he has pursued a long career both as an actor and as a theatre composer.
He works mainly in the jazz world on jazz violin and vocals, whilst sometimes playing guitar and double bass.
George has played all of the major festivals around Australia and tours regularly in Europe appearing at festivals in France, Switzerland & the UK.

Kate Wadey
Kate Wadey is one of Sydney’s most beloved jazz vocalists, renowned for her warm, expressive voice and effortless sophistication. Blending classic jazz styling with heartfelt storytelling, Kate has earned a reputation for captivating audiences with performances that are both intimate and memorable.
A sought-after performer across Australia’s premier venues, Kate has appeared at Bennelong at the Sydney Opera House, Quay, Restaurant Hubert, Sydney Recital Hall, and exclusive events for luxury brands including BVLGARI and Van Cleef & Arpels. Her elegant stage presence and rich vocal tone have made her a favourite among jazz lovers and discerning audiences alike.
Originally from Adelaide, where she began singing in gospel choirs and jazz ensembles as a teenager, Kate went on to build an acclaimed career as both a vocalist and recording artist. Her albums, including Forever Like This, Moon Songs, and A Hundred Years From Today, have showcased her distinctive artistry and deep connection to the jazz tradition. In 2019, she was awarded Fine Music FM’s prestigious Ken Weatherley Scholarship, leading to the creation of an original jazz recording project with some of Australia’s finest musicians.
Kate has performed at major festivals including Manly Jazz, Wangaratta Jazz & Blues Festival, Sydney Festival, Adelaide Fringe, and WOMADelaide, and has toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Born in New Zealand of Maori / European origin, Joy has been singing all her life. Jazz singer and performance teacher extraordinaire, her career spans five decades and several continents, garnering broad international credentials in concert, television, recording and jazz vocal performance education. Joy has shared time, stage and studio with great artists such as Neil Sedaka, Van Morrison,
Cat Stevens, Cliff Richard, Chaka Khan, Randy Crawford, Gladys Knight, Ronnie Scott, Cleo Laine, John Dankworth, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Monty Python, The Goodies, Orson Welles, Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, Clark Terry and many more.
Since her return to Australia, Joy has been channelling this life experience back into nurturing young performers in the Sing for Joy School and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, The Australian Institute of Music, Artistic Direction of the Newport Jazz Festival at Pittwater, Global Vocal Focal Workshops, The Kiwi Waka Festival, and the celebrated jazz/gospel vocal ensemble, JUBILATION.

Wednesday Jazz Night: Genevieve Brown
Genevieve Brown
Genevieve Brown is a captivating vocalist and dynamic improviser, known for her intimate sound, rich tone, and emotionally resonant performances. With a natural ability to connect, she draws audiences in through nuanced phrasing and a deeply expressive delivery.
Raised in a musical family in Sydney, Genevieve’s love of jazz began early, performing alongside her guitarist father and immersing herself in the local scene. She later honed her craft in Brisbane, earning a Bachelor of Music in Jazz from the Queensland Conservatorium, where she studied with some of Australia’s leading jazz vocalists.
Now a regular on stages across Australia, Genevieve has also performed internationally, including at the Siena International Jazz Festival in Italy. Her debut EP Spring Is Here showcases her fresh take on classic standards and has been warmly received by jazz audiences and critics alike.
Having worked with a host of acclaimed international artists, Genevieve brings both sophistication and soul to every performance—creating an atmosphere that is as engaging as it is unforgettable.

New York based Miriam Waks made her performing debut at the tender age of 10 singing solo at the Sydney Opera House. Since that time she has developed into a highly original artist and vibrant performer who sings in 17 languages and a plethora of musical styles. She has performed at venues and residencies across the globe including New York, Buenos Aires, France, Cuba, Edinburgh, London, Italy, Brussels, India, Macau, Hong Kong & Australia.

Wednesday Jazz Night: Tony Barnard
Tony Barnard
Tony comes from a family of musicians, a Jazz dynasty. His father is legendary Aussie Trumpet player Bob Barnard his uncle was Len Barnard, famous drummer and raconteur.
He has performed all over the world and recently returned to Australia after 25 years in the UK, where he performed regularly at Ronnie Scott’s and other top London jazz venues. Before leaving for the UK, Tony had appeared at most of Australia's jazz festivals, accompanied visiting jazz and international jazz and show-biz stars, won 'best guitarist' polls, formed Australia's first 5-guitar big band 'Interplay', led his own bands, and worked as musical director on cruise ships.
Tony has a diverse range of albums to his name (43 and counting) ranging from jazz to blues, classical, world and Ambient, and has played with a wide range of artists from The Australian Chamber Orchestra and The BBC Concert Orchestra, to Cliff Richard and Barry Humphries just to name a few, along with having performed for royalty, movie stars and musical legends.
He won the international song writing competition in 2013 with his piece “Bunyips” and one of a handful of people worldwide, who has mastered the 21 string Harp Guitar.

Australian entertainer Little Pattie (Patricia Amphlett) was a 14 year old Sydney schoolgirl in 1963 when she hit the top of the Australian charts with the unforgettable double-sided hit 'He's My Blonde Headed Stompie Wompie Real Gone Surfer Boy & 'Stompin' at Maroubra'. She went on to record 30 singles, many of which hit the top 10, 5 EP's, 14 LP's & 3 CD's. Pattie earned several gold records for her music sales. She has received several music awards, a Logie Award, has been inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame & been awarded the Order of Australia medal as well as the Vietnam Logistics & Support Medal.

George Washingmachine
An excellent and well-trained musician and a charming entertainer, George Washingmachine doesn’t go unnoticed. Besides singing and playing his violin with enviable mastery, he has pursued a long career both as an actor and as a theatre composer.
He works mainly in the jazz world on jazz violin and vocals, whilst sometimes playing guitar and double bass.
George has played all of the major festivals around Australia and tours regularly in Europe appearing at festivals in France, Switzerland & the UK.
