Leah Berry

Jazz Vocalist Leah Berry is quickly establishing herself as a notable emerging figure in the Sydney jazz scene. She is an impressive performer, improviser and lyricist, who captivates audiences with her storytelling, and velvety tone. Leah concluded her bachelor’s degree studying Jazz Vocal Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2024 and is eager to continue her growth as a musician in Sydney and Australia.

Discovering the voice of Ella Fitzgerald in high school, Leah connected with the storytelling and improvisation that jazz offered and fell in love with the music. She continues to take huge inspiration from jazz greats such as Ella, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter and Anita O’Day. With the support of the Sydney Conservatorium, Leah attended the Siena Jazz International Summer Workshop in 2024 where she learnt from prestigious musicians such as Melissa Aldana, Theo Bleckmann, Yumi Ito, Jen Shyu, Ethan Iverson, Joe Sanders and Lage Lund.

Leah regularly performs around Sydney as both a band leader and booked vocalist. Most recently with emerging eleven-piece band, Symphonette, led by Harry Sutherland and Yannick Koffi. Additionally, she has featured with ten-piece band, Mosaic, recording her original lyrics to Chiara Minotto’s composition ‘Come Rain or Shine’ on Mosaic’s album ‘Where We Are Now’ in 2024.

As part of the Inner West Jazz Fest in late August 2025, Leah joined forces with jazz veteran Mike Nock, presenting a set of her lyrics to his compositions, solidifying her unique voice in the Australian jazz scene as a lyricist and performer.

In 2023, Leah recorded a mix of her arrangements and originals at 2MBS Fine Music on Emergent Jazz with Keith Pettigrew, who stated the recording features “…superb scatting and vocalising by Leah… This is a voice of our jazz future.”

Dixie Night with Patrick Muldrew

Patrick Muldrew

Patrick Muldrew fell in love with music at a very early age. It was no surprise, coming from a musical family; his grandmother was the first woman to sing Jazz repertoire at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Patrick would follow in her footsteps to study at this prestigious institution, graduating in 2006.

Performing throughout Australia as both a singer and trombonist, Patrick has worked in a variety of musical settings, ranging from Classical Orchestras & Chamber ensembles right through to Jazz, Funk, R&B & Pop groups. Patrick was a founding member of the popular Sydney Swing band, The Velvet Set, and has performed extensively with the ever-successful group Wonderbrass - including their involvement in Melbourne as the backing band for the superstar chef, Jamie Oliver.

Now focusing on his passion for Jazz, Patrick wants to share his unique sound and love of music with others. With standards taken from The Great American Songbook and elsewhere, he draws on influences ranging from Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr to Kurt Elling and Harry Connick Jr

What we play

Our setlist centres around the Blues.
Why?
Because it's the mother of all jazz, soul and rock.
We're inspired by everyone from the great Delta Bluesmen in the 1930s, `40s and `50s, through to those that made their way north to Chicago and electrified the Blues in the `50s and `60s. You hear those Blues changes driving many legendary soul and Motown hits of the same era, and we're right there. We're also passionate about British Blues, that re-interpreted and played it back from the other side of the Atlantic. The Blues underlies much of the classic UK and US 70s rock so many of us know and love. It continues to echo in the Blues rock and modern Blues we choose to play today.
That's our vibe. And of course, it's gotta groove...
